How To Boost Your Energy

One of the problems with feeling tired is that once you get to a certain point, it feels as though nothing is going to bring you back to the land of the living. You are exhausted, and there are just tons of different things that can contribute to that feeling. Alcohol, sore backs, stress, anxiety, depression, and other elements can conspire to make us feel as though we could sleep forever. Of course, we don’t have such an option. Life will continue to make its demands, and it doesn’t care if your energy levels feel as though they are somewhere beneath your feet. You need to get your boost, and you need to get on with things. What can be done?

Here are a few tips to boost energy levels that you can keep in mind:

1. Working out

When do you feel the most exhausted? Right around the middle of the afternoon. By around 2 or 3 in the afternoon, we are feeling as though we could go down for a nice long nap. Obviously, this isn’t an option. Nor is it terribly healthy. Instead, give your energy levels a jab by grabbing a quick workout. It doesn’t have to be anything brutal. As long as you can get your heart rate up, you will get back some of the energy the afternoon is trying to suck away from you.

2. Power nap

Although we just got finished telling you to avoid naps, we didn’t say you should stay away from power naps either. Sometimes easier said than done, a 10-20 minute nap is a great way to recharge.

3. Magnesium?

Believe it or not, but magnesium deficiency could actually be the culprit behind your exhaustion. Women need around 300mg per day, while guys need around 350. Whole grains, halibut, almonds, cashews, or hazelnuts are a few examples of foods that can give you the boost you need.

4. Stop skipping breakfast

As the saying goes Breakfast like a King, Lunch like a Prince and Dinner like a Beggar. This isn’t going to give you an immediate boost, but making sure you get the best meal possible in the morning. This will keep off the kind of exhaustion that can seriously intrude on the harmony of your life.

5. Thyroids?

This is another long-term possibility that can still serve to increase your overall levels of energy, which should in turn lead to feeling less tired all of the time. Lethargy, changes to your weight, and even hair loss are all indicators of a potential thyroid problem. If you are concerned about this, consider seeing your doctor.

6. How’s the hydration?

Most of us are not drinking as much water as we should be drinking. It is therefore vital to keep the water supply rolling in.

7. Reducing stress

Looking into some basic stress reduction techniques can actually go a long way towards making you feel as though you have levels of energy that are actually comparable to what you need to do.

8. A little chocolate

You will certainly want to pay attention to the type you are buying, but studies should that just a little bit of chocolate can not only perk up your energy levels. It can also improve your cognitive functions, while putting you in a better overall mood.

9. Stay away from the sugar drinks!

We’re going to get to coffee in a second. For now, remember that when we drink too much caffeine, we tend to crash. More to the point, we tend to crash really hard. The same thought can be applied to the seemingly endless parade of sugar drinks that are currently on the market. If you try to use these sugar drinks to boost yourself past feeling tired in the morning, you may want to prepare yourself for a pretty severe crash later on.

10. Vitamin D

Coming from sunlight and similar sources, our bodies sometimes begin to slump due to the fact that we aren’t getting enough vitamin D. Try to get a little natural light into the room.

11. Berries

If you need to perk up, and you also really want to have a sweet snack, look into keeping some berries nearby. What kinds of berries improve energy levels? That’s the great part. It doesn’t really matter. All berries can work wonders as a pick-me-up.

12. Grab a shower?

Obviously, this isn’t something that you can do wherever you go, or whenever you want, but it can prove to give you a nice boost nonetheless. If you feel yourself beginning to get tired, and you can grab a quick shower, then it might not be the worst thing in the world to do exactly that.

13. Laughing your way out

Laughing is another way to get the right levels of energy kicking. Eating more greens, deep breathing, adjusting the temperature, playing music (better if you can sing along, or at least know the words), or even just being social are all ways to get your energies moving along in the right direction.

Okay, let’s talk about coffee

There are tons of health benefits to drinking coffee. No one is denying that. Furthermore, no one is denying the fact that coffee can give you a nice pick-me-up when needed. Studies indicate that drivers who drink just a single cup of coffee while on the road, particularly when they are starting to feel a bit exhausted, are more likely to remain alert and actively engaged with their surroundings while in transit. And this is where you want to pay attention to the fact that we only said one cup of coffee. Moderation matters. One or two cups of coffee throughout the day can be enormously beneficial. Perhaps, a little more than that. Everyone is different. However, everyone has limits, and abusing caffeine/coffee can wind up making you feel wearier than ever, and that’s before the caffeine crash kicks in.

There are numerous things you can try, in terms of improving the fact that you feel tired all of the time. Try a combination of the items that have been mentioned above. At the same time, remember that there are even more suggestions than the ones that have been covered above. They can also be adjusted to suit the needs/limitations of the individual.
